Roger Schall's place in the history of French photography.

The Centre Pompidou preserves 225 vintage silver prints by Roger Schall within its Photography Collection, forming one of the most significant public holdings of his work. Entering the Museum through the renowned Christian Bouqueret Collection in 2011, this ensemble reflects Schall's central place within the history of twentieth-century French photography.

Spanning Roger Schall's most defining years, the collection brings together photographs that illustrate the breadth of his practice—from Parisian street life and modern architecture to portraiture, fashion and visual experimentation. Preserved within France's national museum of modern and contemporary art, these works contribute to a broader narrative of photography as one of the defining artistic languages of the twentieth century.
