Witness to History(48)

Roger Schall documented many of the defining moments of the twentieth century, from the Popular Front and the Berlin Olympics to the Occupation, the Liberation of Paris and the post-war reconstruction. Alongside world events, he photographed the writers, artists, scientists and political figures who shaped their time. Blending the immediacy of photojournalism with a deeply human perspective, his photographs have become a lasting visual chronicle of modern French and European history.
