Hermès

The Hermès archives preserve an extensive body of photographs by Roger Schall, documenting the House's creative universe between 1944 and 1960. Based on the documented archive currently available, more than 410 photographs have been identified to date, including approximately 220 fashion photographs and 190 images of window displays. Together, they offer an exceptional insight into the visual identity of one of France's most iconic luxury maisons during the post-war period.

Created at a time when photography played an increasingly important role in shaping the image of luxury, these photographs bear witness to Roger Schall's contribution to documenting the House's craftsmanship, elegance and creative spirit. While the full extent of the Hermès holdings has not been publicly documented, the archive identified to date already illustrates the remarkable scale of Roger Schall's contribution to the visual history of the House.
